Capacity Crunch Causes North America Bound Container Back-logs in Asia

Ports and terminal facilities in Asia are experiencing heavy backlogs with North American bound containers because of an ongoing supply-and-demand situation.

A current shortage of vessel capacity is coinciding with a steady rise in cargo volumes which is causing delays, leaving many containers stuck on the dock for more than a week. This shortage of capacity is expected to last for at least another month, with most Transpacific carriers announcing that they will be increasing capacity by adding larger vessels in late April or early May.

Western Overseas Corporation is continuing to work diligently with our nominated carriers and because of our established carrier relationships we have been able to hold our allocations during this difficult period.

We ask that you continue to work closely with your local Western Overseas Corporation Customer Service Representative and provide them with a minimum of 2 weeks prior notice on all bookings. This will provide Western Overseas Corp with the advanced booking information required to provide you with the reliable service that Western Overseas is proud to deliver.
