The Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements has issued a
directive to U.S. Customs and Border Protection canceling the Electronic Visa
Information System requirements for textiles and textile products produced or
manufactured in China and exported on and after Jan. 1, 2009. CITA is taking
this action in connection with the Dec. 31 expiration of the safeguard quotas
on various textiles and apparel from China.
CITA states that the ELVIS and safeguard quota requirements will remain in
effect until further notice for goods exported from China prior to Jan. 1, even
if they are entered in 2009.
