Our story began back in 1948...
Our history
In 1948, San Pedro, California was busier catching fish than moving cargo. Just before the advent of the modern shipping container, Western Overseas Corporation was born.
Along with the area and the shipping industry, the company grew — from a small office of five to an international network of more than 200 shipping professionals, now with its headquarters in Cypress, California.
Initially focused on the West Coast, Western Overseas now boasts offices in every major U.S. port and gateway and agents in key shipping countries throughout the world. The independent, privately owned brokerage built its reach and reputation by giving small and mid-range shippers the individualized service they deserve. As business becomes more consolidated and less personal, Western Overseas continues to thrive through relationships developed over more than a half century in the international transportation industry. It remains focused on helping its clients grow by simplifying international logistics and by guiding their goods through customs and across the distance.
